Baroque Motifs - Turns into the colour Throwdown!

Good morning to you - oh yha you guessed it! It's Saturday morning at 3:35am and I am hard at it this morming in my craft room! Have I ever mentioned to you that I love Saturday mornings he he?!

so I started with a wonderrful colour challenge - this challenge has been on my mind since Wed. when I seen the colours and I was determined to not let it defeat me! HE HE :)

Hard colours UH?

I wanted to use my new Stampin Up Set Called Baroque Motifs - I have seen alot of cards made with this set and I finally got it with my last order!!!

 also used the butterfly from the Simple Friendship stamp set - this butterfly is so pretty I love it!

My base is the dark neutral which is Basic Grey - I don't use this colour too much - so I welcome the oppertunity to do so!

my first attempt was to stamp this big beautiful stamp on my Shimmery White card stock with the Basic Grey - but here is what it looked like and I didnt care for it so much!

 yha -NOT- so I tried someting different 

I used my dabbers - loaded them up with Real Red - Only Orange and Basic Grey

that is better - I dabbed all three colours onto my stamp - I tried to keep the grey to the outside of the stamp only. Very lightly as well

then I dabbed only orange and real

red onto my butterfly in the same way.

I cut out my butterfly 

I punched out my greeting - then I pulled out my Hodgepodge Hardware kit It's on Page 178 of the Stampin Up Idea Book - I love these kits - gives you so many options! 

I edged all edges of my shimmery white with my dabbers

 I had to add some silver cord - and I was really struggling with it - so I thought Okay I am going to o punch a hole so I have better control of this cord- so here, take a look - what do you think

- oh wait I am putting the butterfly over the hole -

Silly - I wouldnt leave it like this LOL

and there you have it! The hole is covered up! HE HE :)

But after everything that has gone on this past week with almost loosing our little buddy, I just really wanted to share this photo with you, so you could see how good he is doing now!

Ten minute challenge - Sandi and I

good day!

So last week, we introduced you to our new 10 minute card challenge.

At the end of my post I will have Sandi's link (I have more info on Sandi at the end of my post here), so you can go check out her card............ and she told me a little secret, that little turkey.......... she made more then one! And she calls me smarty pants!!!! LOL who's the smarty pants now???

so I started with some card stock - curry, pumpkin pie and chocolate chip, that is quite a fancy recipe uh? YHUM he he :)

This is  a REAL challenge for me, cause yha know I am so not GOOD at doing ten minute cards LOL :)

Using a little Crystal Effects to put my buttons on!

okay so then ofcourse I wanted to step it up a bit, yha yah I know he he 

things that I did to step it up

I embossed the sentiment with Craft ink and used clear embossing powder

then I thought I would like the butterfly to be Cracked Glass............

I kinda think that was a Cracked up idea....

I dunked my butterfly into versamark and then added Glassy accents to the entired versamark image

okay - much better - pretty cutsy - just like Sandi and I agreed on! LOL

sooooooooooo there we go!

The stamp sets I used were:

Simple Friendship & Great friend

the second card has more layers, two ribbons, embossed sentiment and dazzled butterfly.
